Our Educational Philosophy
The foreign language department at Stall focuses on improving critical thinking while ensuring the mastery of the skills needed for practical use of Spanish and Latin. Proficiency based assessments are used. Spanish teachers develop common assessments to ensure students are consistently prepared for the next level.
Latin use modern texts to encourage engagements and mastery of reading comprehension. Students learn to write about content relevant to their lives. Classical culture, including mythology, is explored.

Meet Alexandra Baltodano - SpanishI have a B.A. in Spanish with a minor in Ed. from the College of Charleston. During that time I studied abroad at ULACIT in Costa Rica. I finished the courses at USC Aiken I needed to add on ESOL to my certification.
I was in the Peace Corps in Nicaragua as a TEFL teacher trainer. I taught kindergarten at a private school for a year and taught Advanced English classes in an Program at Ave Maria University. After that I taught English online to students around the world. I am currently a Spanish Teacher, I am the department head of World Languages at R.B. Stall. I love using technology in my classroom in any way I possibly can. I think there is great value to it and I would like to move into a leadership role to help others use technology. |
Meet Angela Reynolds - SpanishI have been interested in Spanish since I was a child due to my Colombian, Puerto Rican, and Cuban family members using basic vocabulary with me. I was so interested that I took up to Spanish 5 in high school and was President of the Spanish Club. I later earned a BA in Speech Pathology, with a minor in Spanish, and a Masters in the Arts of Teaching with an emphasis in Spanish from Marshall University. I also completed courses at the Universidad de Nebrija in Spain. I began teaching in WV and was awarded Arch Coal Teacher of the Year, Sam's Club Teacher of the Year, and was nominated for Kanawha County Teacher of the Year. I also taught Spanish in Baltimore, MD until I chose to stay home with my three children. During my time with my children I created, and taught, a preschool curriculum for their two preschools. This year I excitedly returned to the secondary classroom here at Stall.
