Standard 2: Governance and Leadership
The school operates under governance and leadership that promote and support student performance and school effectiveness.
Reflection
Staff were in high agreement that the school's leaders support an innovative and collaborative culture. Professional development offerings and PLC agendas/minutes are two sources of evidence to support this, along with the school's applications for Apple Distinguished School and TransformSC and notice of being selected a Capturing Kids' Hearts national showcase school. These strengths are being sustained through ongoing participation in TransformSC network meetings (e.g., workshops on blended learning, project-based learning, and competency-based grading), as well as through ongoing trainings in CKH for all new staff and refresher trainings for returning staff. While 82% of staff believe school leaders "provide opportunities for stakeholders to be involved in the school," just over half of the students believed that the school "offers opportunities for my family to become involved in school activities and my learning" even though the school offers ongoing workshops (Parents as Partners in Learning). The school has recently SchoolShelf to be rolled out to parents at second semester Open House on February 20; School Shelf contains a multitude of resources to help parents help their children. In addition, Stall is piloting an application called LivingTree which will provide seamless two-way communication between home and school for school activities, grades, and cyber-conferencing.
